Tidepool Touch Table (K-12th Grades)

touch tableLet us bring the rocky intertidal into your school.  Students see and touch live marine organisms while our naturalists describe the unique adaptations of each animal.  Students also learn how the organisms interact with each other and their environment.

This activity is designed for participation by an entire school.  The touch table is 3.5 ft by 9 ft and is stocked with both intertidal and subtidal animals.  Also included is a hands-on activity entitled “Plankton Races” where students become plankton “engineers” to learn about life in the open ocean.  Classes generally rotate throughout the day and each spends a total of 45-60 minutes on these two activities.

This program costs $800 per day and includes collection and care of all animals, transportation of sea table, 3-4 naturalists, and all materials.

Set-up and take-down time for the seawater table is approximately two hours; it is best if we can set up the day before the event if activities are to start in the morning.  Please be sure to allow us access to an appropriate location with water-resistant flooring and space for both activities.
